RFID Guard Tour System
A Guard Tour system is employed to ensure staff (security, cleaning, fire marshals, building safety) are carrying out their patrol of predefined checkpoints and that they are at the correct location at the correct time.
Previously these systems used electronic checkpoints which required specialist installation and resulted in high installation and capital costs, plus expensive hand-held readers. With the development of mobile apps then the ability to scan checkpoints with a smartphone vastly reduced cost. Expensive analogue patrol points can now be replaced with wireless and affordable RFID chips. What are RFID chips? Well, you probably use them much more than you realise, such as the chip on your credit card, security tags on clothing and hotel room access cards. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is used in all smartphones, however the term NFC (Near Field Chip) is more recognisable in smartphone terminology.
Each RFID chip has its own unique ID number which can be programmed from our cloud dashboard via a desktop programmer connected to a PC or laptop. The software allows you to create tours, name checkpoints and assign RFID chip numbers to specific checkpoints. You can also define maximum expected times between each checkpoint so that late scans will instantly alert via the dashboard.
Alert Patrol’s RFID Guard Tour system can also use QR codes or a mix of both.
